Terms
Last updated October 21, 2026
C# Advent is a community event: every December, people from the C# community each publish a post on their day. By claiming a spot, you agree to these terms.
Who runs C# Advent
Matt Groves started C# Advent in 2017, inspired by the F# Advent Calendar. Today it's organized by Calvin Allen and Matt Groves, as volunteers in their own time. It's an independent community project, not affiliated with Microsoft.
Taking part
- Request a spot. You don't need a topic yet. The organizers review every request, and a spot is yours once it's approved.
- Prepare your content, in English, and keep it to yourself until your day. Host it anywhere: your own site, dev.to, Medium, YouTube, GitHub Pages, or somewhere else.
- Make it about C# in some way. Beyond that, it's up to you. It has to be your own work.
- Link to csadvent.christmas in your content, so your readers can find the rest of the Advent.
- Publish on your day, and share it with the hashtags #csharp and #csadvent. Each day is revealed on the calendar at midnight Eastern time.
If you can't make it
Things happen. If you can't deliver your post, let us know as soon as you can, so someone on the standby list can take the spot. If your post isn't ready in time, we may give your spot to someone else. Spots that are given up don't appear on the calendar.
What we can decline
We can turn down a request, or remove an entry, if it isn't about C#, isn't the author's own work, is spam or a sales pitch, or is hateful, harassing or otherwise inappropriate for a friendly community event.
Your content
Your post stays yours. We only show your name, your link, and your post's title and address, on the calendar and permanently in the archive, and we share them on C# Advent's social media accounts and feed, tagging the social accounts you gave us. Ask us if you'd like your entry taken down.
Your information
Our privacy page explains what we collect, how we use it, and when we delete it.
No guarantees
We do our best to keep the site running and to share every post, but the site is run by volunteers and provided as it is, without any warranty. We aren't responsible for the content of the posts we link to; each author is.
Changes and questions
We may update these terms, and the date at the top shows when they last changed. Questions? Email hello@csadvent.christmas.
